Question 1 of 9Light or deep

How light or dark is your natural hair?

Choose your natural hair color in daylight, without dye, near the roots.

How does the color analysis quiz work?

The quiz scores you on three scales, then finds the closest of the 12 seasons.

Warm or cool

Three questions on hair tone, white or cream, and gold or silver.

Light or deep

Three questions on the lightness of your hair, eyes and skin.

Soft or bright

Three questions on how your eyes read, and on stronger or softer versions of two colors.

Photos, screens, and room lighting change how colors look. Compare suggested colors in consistent daylight before making purchases.

What are the 12 color seasons?

This map shows where this site places each season on two of its three scales. These are our own positions, a styling convention rather than a measurement, and each season links to its full palette.

Across is depth, from light to deep. Up and down is clarity, from soft to bright. A filled dot marks a warm season and an open dot a cool one.

Here are the same 12 seasons grouped by family. Each strip shows six of that season's colors, and each card opens its full palette.

How can you use your color season?

Here are three ways to use a season, with examples from True Summer.

Clothing

Your result pairs your colors into three outfits, and says which to keep near your face.

An example of one True Summer pairing: a Cool Rose top with a Slate Navy bottom.

Makeup

Your result suggests lips, cheeks and eyes from your own palette.

Compare in daylight

Hold two suggested colors near your face in consistent natural light. Here, only the collar changes.

How accurate is an online color analysis quiz?

A short questionnaire can suggest a palette, but it cannot measure your coloring or guarantee a single correct season. Lighting, dyed hair, display settings, and subjective answers can change a result. That is why we show a close alternative and encourage you to compare the colors for yourself.

Seasonal color analysis is also a styling convention, not a science. Read exactly how the color analysis quiz scores your answers.

Color analysis quiz: frequently asked questions

Is this color analysis quiz really free?

Yes. You can complete the quiz and see your suggested season, alternative, and color palette without payment or email.

Do I need to upload a photo or give my email?

No. The quiz works using your selections. Photo upload isn't required or available for this quiz.

What if I'm between two seasons?

The result always names your closest alternative. If your answers sit between two seasons, we say so and show both palettes side by side so you can choose.

How should I check my result?

Compare two suggested colors near your face in consistent natural light. Your own preference matters too.

Does it work for every skin tone?

The questions cover very fair to very deep skin, but the quiz has not yet been tested with a wide group of people. Treat your result as a starting point, and check it against your own colors in daylight.

What if my hair is gray or dyed?

Answer for your natural color if you can remember it. If your hair is now gray or white, choose that option and the quiz uses your eyes, skin and color comparisons instead.

Hold the screen near your face at a mirror, close to a window. This is an unproven aid: room light and your screen can change how colors look.
